What are some good books to learn more about the market?
- All of the Nassim Nicholas Taleb books: Fooled by Randomness, Black Swan, and Antifragile. I don’t necessarily agree with everything that he writes about, and he’s extremely pretentious, but he makes a lot of very thought-provoking points. I would say these books personally had the most influence on my understanding of the markets.
- One Up on Wall Street by Peter Lynch: recommended to me by one of my mentors, quick read but informative and a good primer on value investing.
- Margin of Safety by Seth Klarman: a more advanced take on value investing, and frankly one of the best, hands down. The book is out of print and used copies literally go for over $1000 on eBay or Amazon. Protip: try to download a PDF somewhere.
- Fooling Some of the People All of the Time by David Einhorn: great book on finding inefficiencies in the market to take advantage of. If you ever had any confidence in financial journalists, sell-side analysts, or regulators, this will help cure you of those incorrect beliefs (okay, not all of those guys are bad, but a lot are deliberately full of shit, enough to cause problems).
